Right To Dance: Free Affirming Dance Classes

Recognizing the need within marginalized communities(including LGBTTIQQ2S people, people of colour, varying body types, class backgrounds and abilities) for accessible affirming dance classes ILL NANA/DiverseCity Dance Company created Right To Dance.

Right To Dance: free professional drop in classes in body conditioning, hip hop, urban dance, ballet, and contemporary dance. Classes will be taught with an anti-oppressive framework in order to create an affirming space for marginalized people with a focus on LGBTTIQQ2S* youth, youth of colour, as well as youth with varying body types, class backgrounds, and abilities

When: Tue Evenings and Sat Afternoons

Where: The 519 Church Street Community Centre: Room 301

How Much: Free!!!! or by donation

Who: Anybody who has ever wanted to learn dance, with an understanding that this is an affirming space for marginalized people with a focus on LGBTTIQQ2S*(Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Transgendered, Intersex, Queer, Questioning, & 2 Spirited ) youth, youth of colour, as well as youth with varying body types, class backgrounds, and abilities; and that priority will be given to people from these communities.

What to Wear: What ever makes you feel good that you can move in!! Contemporary Ballet Class: It can be helpful for teachers to be able to see your body alignment by wearing form fitting attire, but it is not necessary. Socks and or ballet shoes can also be helpful.

ILL NANA Street Styles Class: Clean shoes: the kind of shoe is up to you sneakers, heels, wedges.

Things You May Wanna Bring: water, snacks, towel, yoga mat, and additional clothes you may get sweaty!!!
